Left Coast Racing Team is a women’s cycling road racing team, based in Berkeley. Our title sponsor, Left Coast Cyclery, has generously supported the team for five years. Our mission is to provide a unified and supportive environment for women to improve their individual racing skills while contributing to the overall success of the team. The team has a firm commitment to support sponsors through continued patronage, represent the sport and our sponsors well by our professional demeanor while riding and racing, and promote community and regional women’s cycling, particularly Masters racing, through participation in events. Membership is by invitation, but team rides are open to any cyclists.
In our years racing as a team, we have posted some impressive results at local races, District Championships, and National Championships. Our team was ranked #1 Master’s woman’s team in NCNCA Best All around Team rankings in 2004. In 2005 we achieved 45 Top-10 finishes. We improved on that number in 2006, and can boast of 91 Top-10 finishes in local, district and national races.
In addition to racing, the team has supported the community by joining with larger teams to support a local race. We have cosponsored the Berkeley Hills Road Race and Pinole Team Time Trial in the past, and in 2006 we cosponsored the Livermore Hills Road Race for Women and Juniors. Our 2007 race sponsorship will be the Albany Criterium. In keeping with our commitment to promote cycling, we have provided assistance at many local clinics. We feel it’s important and rewarding to encourage new participants in the sport, and to share our knowledge of skills to help keep the sport safer for all of us.
