LEFT COAST CONCERT SERIES

Celebrating Songwriters

Upcoming Concerts

Left Coast Cyclery, new home of Celebrating Songwriters, hosted by Caren Armstrong, presents outstanding musical acts:

For Schedule of Performances, please go to:
www.celebratingsongwriters.com

All concerts are held at Left Coast Cyclery.

We've created a setting that's reminiscent of a time when performers played their music in settings that were intimate and personal. The closeness of our new "club" combined with the talent and musicality of the performers makes for an unforgettable and enjoyable evening.

Please come by and support these artists!

Greetings To All!

Where did the year go? Our last show of the year is coming up and it promises to be a great evening.

This concert series has been a magical project.

Ten years ago, Caren Armstrong took her love of songwriting and performing, invited some musician pals, told some friends, who told some more friends, and a concert series was born. The venue has changed over the years, (Sweetwater's, Larkspur Cafe Theater, Strings, various living rooms.....), but the goal has stayed the same: to create an intimate listening room for songwriters and small audiences to come together and benefit from their shared love of music.

In 2008, the series moved to Left Coast Cyclery, and once a month, our wooden basement is transformed into "the belly of a guitar." It's the closest thing to the spirit of "church" that I've ever experienced. Our audiences are incredibly generous and attentive. The artists perform in an unplugged setting, often finding a lost appreciation for playing a show without amps, mixing boards and mics. It's truly amazing.

I hope you can join us for our last show of the year. The featured musicians, Coyote Grace and Garrin Benfield, are outstanding (see info below this text for artist's websites). Coyote Grace has enjoyed some incredible successes this year, including opening for the Indigo Girls and touring nationally with Melissa Ferrick. Garrin Benfield's recent CD was named by Dave Mathews as a "top 5 favorite CD."

Caren Armstrong will be hosting and I heard she's gonna bring her slide guitar!

We'll have coffee, hot tea and bottled water. If you like a little wine, beer or dessert goodie with your folk music, we invite you to bring your own. In the spirit of folk music, feel free to share with others. Thank you so much for your generous support and we look forward to a great show on December 13th!

Thanks to all who made our concert series a great success. This year we are pleased and honored to be the home venue of Celebrating Songwriters--a monthly concert series showcasing songwriters from around the world and hosted by award winning singer/songwriter Caren Armstrong.

Because we love and appreciate great music at Left Coast Cyclery we would like to announce the Left Coast Concert Series.

As cyclists, we know what it's like to work hard at something. We train hard, and sometimes we travel for miles just to compete. If you're lucky, you might win a t-shirt or a couple of bucks. Most of the time, we just do it for the love of cycling. Well, musicians kind of do the same thing. The really good ones work hard at keeping their songwriting skills polished. They're disciplined and committed.  Most do it because it's their calling, it's what they love. Few are fortunate enough to make a living at it.

Seeing a gifted cyclist is inspiring. When we envision Lance's grace on the pedals, it helps to get us up and over those hills. When a musician pours their heart and soul into a song, it fills us with perspective and insight. It inspires us. It makes life better.

Thus, the Left Coast Concert Series—providing an intimate venue for independent artists to showcase their work, inspire audiences and put some gas money in the tour bus.

Please continue to check our Web site for more information on scheduled performances.

We hope you'll join us.

Call us at: 510-204-8552 if you want to be on the Concert Series mailing list. We'll keep you posted on upcoming performances.
